About Me
Canines have been an admiration of mine since a young age. It comes as no surprise when people
hear my career is built around dogs.
Not having a dog of my own led to working at local dog care facilities. This journey started in
2015 and gave me the ability to work closely with many breeds and personalities.
It is also where my interest in training was sparked.
After adopting my first dog, Asher, I dove much deeper into the world of dog behaviour and
training. He developed challenging issues that I was unfamiliar with and overwhelmed by, thus
encouraging me to further my understanding of dogs through schooling.
In 2019, I graduated with Honours in Dog Obedience Training from Ashworth College. Through the
years, I have invested in many extra courses and webinars, as I believe we are always able to
learn more and constantly improve.
When you join the Helpful K9 family, it is important to me that everyone feels welcome. My goal
is to provide a better understanding of dogs, from behaviour to genetics.
It is also important that handlers feel supported, heard, and prepared, especially when dealing
with complex behaviours such as aggression and reactivity.
Hayley has been an exceptional dog trainer for our dog, Charlie! She arrives well-prepared with treats, toys, and various training methods, and provides personalized, in-home training sessions. Hayley has been an amazing trainer and resource to help us with our pup Whiskey. She has been able to help us work through and address a number of concerns with demand barking, loose-leash walking, recall, reactivity and over-stimulation and pretty much anything else that has come up. She provided personalized in-home training sessions as well as being available to meet in other locations to work on specific concerns. She provided alternate methods and approaches if one method wasn’t working well for our pup. Her professional and dedicated approach made each training session really enjoyable for our pup (and us) and we saw improvement very quickly. She really helped us understand our pups body language and the different behaviours and what could be causing them. Her guidance has made a massive difference with our pup.
